                           ORDINANCE NO.   9940  
            
            AN ORDINANCE TO AMEND CHATTANOOGA CITY CODE, PART 
            II, SECTION 35-17 RELATIVE TO MEMBERSHIP ON THE TAXI 
            BOARD
            
                                 __________
            
        	 SECTION 1.  BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE 
        CITY OF CHATTANOOGA, TENNESSEE that Chattanooga City Code, Part 
        II, Section 35-17 be amended by deleting the second sentence of 
        said Section and inserting the following in lieu thereof:
              "Such Board shall consist of three representatives of 
              the Tourism Industry, four taxicab industry members, 
              and two citizens at-large, all of whom shall be 
              appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by a majority 
              vote of the whole membership of the City Council, and 
              who shall serve without compensation for a term of 
              two (2) years or until their successors are 
              appointed."
              
                 SECTION 2.  BE IT FURTHER ORDAINED, that this 
        Ordinance shall take effect two (2) weeks from and after its 
        passage as required by law.
